Villars’ station is in the heart of the village; 50m to the right on the main Avenue Central is the tourist office (Christmas, New Year, Feb, July & Aug daily 8am–7pm; rest of year Mon–Sat 8am–noon & 1.30–6pm, Sun 10am–4pm; 024/495 32 32, www.villars.ch). For accommodation, Hôtel du Cerf (024/495 27 15, fax 495 14 37; b) is cosy enough, with good meals, while the huge Elite (024/496 39 00, fax 496 39 01; c) is conveniently located right beside the Roc d’Orsay gondola, with brand-new renovated rooms. Alpe Fleurie (024/495 34 64, fax 496 30 77; c) and Ecureuil (024/495 27 95, fax 495 42 05; c) are old-style chalet-hotels with a long history of catering to families, both conveniently central. A low-end option is the charming Chalet Martinhostel five minutes’ walk above Gryon station (024/498 33 21; a), a cosy, friendly place run by a Swiss-Australian couple, with dorm space for Fr.18. Le Vieux-Villars, on the Route des Hôtels, is a three-storey restaurant known for its fondues and raclettes.
